Commonly referred to as the "South Side" of Greater Richmond, Chesterfield County is located just south of the state capital in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The county borders are primarily the James River to the north and the Appomattox River to the South. The Chesterfield Court House is the county seat.
The population of Chesterfield has been growing and it is the third-most populous county in Virginia (behind Fairfax County and Prince William County, respectively).
